Poolheat at request. Some pools are equipped with an electric pool heater (heat pump) which transfers heat from the surrounding air to the water. The rate at which a pool is heated depends on the temperature of the air, the size of the pool, and the surface area of the pool (evaporation). The efficiency of the heater is reduced when the temperature drops. At temperatures below 45 F, most heat pumps will stop working. In the winter it usually takes a day or more to raise the temperature of the water to a comfortable temperature. It is advisable to use a pool cover when the pool is not in use as evaporation of the water causes the temperature to drop, especially at cold windy nights.
