The Dunes: A mind challenging course that anyone with a set up clubs will have to literally hit balls in all different directions to make it to one of the top scores of this course. Its hourglass shape may seem confusing at first but will be less confusing the more times you play it. The entire 1,100 acres of the golf course offer many other activities as well. At the Dunes, they have a clubhouse which contains a golf shop with limited merchandise and a snack bar called the 19th Hole. So you may ask yourself what the Dunes consists of. Well it is composed of multiple target greens, three practice areas, a practice sand bunker, and a putting green.
Rates for golfing range from $38 to $75 for 18 holes. You can book tee times up to 7 days in advance. Van der Valk currently has a promotional voucher for The Dunes which honors lunch and a range of balls.
The Dunes is located on US Highway 19 North about 10 miles north of State Road 50 and US Highway 19 in Weeki Wachee. Go out of Lakeside and take a right. Go about two miles north until you see County Road 486 (Novell Bryant Highway) and take a left. Follow County Road 486 for about 5 miles. Take a left once you reach County Road 491 (N Lecanto Highway). Continue on County Road 491 until you reach State Road 44. Take a right onto State Road 44 (W Gulf to Lake Highway). Continue to the next traffic light which is about ½ mile. Take a left onto County Road 490 (W Homosassa Trail). Follow County Road 490 to the end of the road about 6 miles. Take a left once you reach US Highway 19. You will be heading south. Continue south for 11 miles on US Highway 19 and the Dunes entrance will be on your left. The entrance is 4 miles past the intersection where US Highway 19 and US Highway 98 split as you head south.
