Renting a pool house in Inverness for six or eight

Screened private pool deck with lounge chairs at a single-story vacation home in Inverness, Florida, surrounded by palm trees and live oaks

If there are six of you, start with Villa Ciska, which gives every couple an en-suite bathroom, or Villa Eckhardt, with more than 2,000 square feet of living space to spread out in. If there are eight, Villa Kamp has a pool and a hot tub under the oaks, and Villa Lovie splits its beds across a king, two queens and two twins, the configuration that works when a group isn't neatly paired off. If you're ten, there's one answer: Villa S&G.

That's the short version. The rest of this is the part that actually decides things: bathrooms, bed layout, cars, and whether anyone in your group wants to be on a bike by eight in the morning.

Count bathrooms before you count bedrooms

Eight people sharing two bathrooms will remember the bathrooms, not the pool. Most of our Inverness houses run three bathrooms, and in a couple of cases that goes further than the arithmetic suggests. Villa Ciska has three bedrooms and three private en-suites, so nobody queues and nobody negotiates. For three couples travelling together, that's a different holiday from a house where everyone shares a hall bath.

Villa 4727 solves the same problem for a larger group in a different way: four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a dining room and a separate TV room, so the people who want a film and the people who want conversation aren't in the same space. It has a hot tub as well as the pool, a home office corner, and a back lanai over a pond with Florida wildlife working its edges.

Villa S&G is the house for ten, and its bed plan is worth knowing before you divide up rooms: a king in the master with its own full bathroom, three guest rooms with a queen each, and a fourth guest room with two full beds, those four sharing two bathrooms. It sits among pastures in a neighbourhood of palms and old oaks. Long stays are allowed there, which matters if you're thinking in weeks rather than nights.

The three-bedroom houses, and what separates them

Six is the most common small-group size we book here, and these homes are not interchangeable.

  • Villa Ciska — three master suites, each with its own private bathroom, plus the pool, air conditioning and a washer and dryer.
  • Villa Eckhardt — three bedrooms, two baths, bright open floor space, a dedicated workspace, a dishwasher and a full oven. A group that cooks and one person who has to log on for an hour can both get what they need.
  • Wedding Venue View Apartment — three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the top floor, with a balcony and an open kitchen. No private pool, so only consider it if the pool isn't the point.

That last one deserves plain treatment: most people searching for an Inverness rental want a pool, and if that's you, skip it. But a top-floor apartment with linens on every bed and towels already out in both bathrooms suits a group planning to be out all day.

Eight people, four bedrooms, and the differences that matter

We run more four-bedroom homes in Inverness than anything else, so a group of eight gets real choices rather than one option and a compromise.

Villa Warren is worth a look if you've been bitten at dusk in Florida before: the pool is screened, and the house sits on a big lot at the end of a cul-de-sac, so nothing drives past the driveway. Over 2,000 square feet, four bedrooms, three bathrooms.

Villa Kamp has a pool and a hot tub set among palms and centuries-old live oaks hung with Spanish moss, which is the inland Citrus County landscape rather than the beach version of this state. There's a dedicated workspace too.

Villa Grandjean seats eight at the dining table, which sounds minor until you've tried feeding eight in a house that seats six. Its pool area faces south with a large covered section, lounge chairs and a patio table, so there's shade on the deck at midday without going indoors.

Villa Ilse sits in a brand-new, quiet neighbourhood: newer build, smart TV in the living area, pool deck straight off the back. Oasis runs an open floor plan through the main living space, with a customised pool and a hot tub that can be heated for an extra $35 a day. Villa Pearl pairs a private pool with a hot tub and sits closest to Ocala, useful if half your trip points north.

Then Villa Lovie, with the bed mix that solves awkward groupings and a hot tub beside the pool. The hot tub can be heated daily; pool heating runs on a two-night minimum.

About the heated pool, because it decides your trip

Florida pools are unheated water in a warm climate, and from late autumn into spring that water is colder than visitors expect. Heating is a paid add-on and the terms differ by house: $25 a day at Villa S&G with a two-night minimum, $35 a day at Villa Lovie covering pool and hot tub, $35 a day for the hot tub at Oasis.

If you're coming between November and March and anyone in the group intends to actually swim rather than test the water and retreat, add heating when you book. Those minimum-night rules mean a request made on arrival sometimes can't take effect in time to matter on a short stay.

If the trip is about the Withlacoochee Trail

Inverness sits on the Withlacoochee State Trail, and it's the single most common reason groups pick this town over somewhere coastal. A rail trail is flat and paved and goes on a long way, so the serious riders can put in a proper morning while everyone else does a gentle hour and is back at the pool by lunch.

Any of these houses works for that: every one has a washer for kit and free parking for a car with a rack on the back. Check the car rule before you plan the convoy, though. Most of our homes cap it at three vehicles per reservation, which is a conversation to have before booking if eight of you are arriving in four cars.

Beyond the trail, this is manatee country. Crystal River brings most first-time visitors to Citrus County, and winter is when the animals crowd into the warm spring water. Put that together with a kitchen you can genuinely cook in and the week takes its own shape: springs in the morning, groceries on the way home, dinner at your own table with the pool lit up outside.

Settle these before you book

We manage these houses ourselves with a local team, so the answer to most of the below is a message rather than a form.

  • Pets. Some homes take them, others are strictly pet-free for guests with allergies. Villa S&G accepts pets. Ask about the specific house you want.
  • Cars. Three per reservation at most homes.
  • Pool heating. Confirm the fee and the minimum nights for your house and your dates.
  • Availability. Rates, minimum stays and open dates move. Check the home's own page for your travel window.

Every home arrives stocked with what groups forget: linens on the beds, towels in the bathrooms, a coffee maker, pots and pans, detergent pods for the washer. Buy food on day one and nothing else.
